So basically I got a new motherboard + i5 + ram, everything works fine apart from my GTX275, which for some reason when I go to log in it gets to the welcome screen and freezes with a few like black spots on the screen, it works fine in safe mode and from there I can uninstall the drivers, and this makes it work fine in windows but of course I have no GPU driver, so I install the driver from my now working windows and restart, same thing. I put my old 8800GTS in and everything works fine, the driver installs fine, I can run games and stuff. But if I put my GTX275 in and reinstall drivers it does the same thing. I have tried everything I know and I can not fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Current Specs:
Core i5 750
Asus P7P55D
4GB DDR3 PC3-10666
GTX275
320GB + 1TB HDs

Which drivers are you using?

Have you tried different ones?

What size power supply do you have?

did you install the drivers manually? If you did, try starting the device manager (hope that's the name, I'm using a german version of 7), select your graphics card -> right click -> update software. maybe it finds the right one by itself...

@Bertster7 Currently to post this on my 8800gts the latest 195.62 ones, I have tried them and the 190.62 drivers on my GTX275 but neither worked.

@Catbox Currently using a 700W Cooler Master Real Power M700, this powered my old E6600+GTX275+8800GTS as PPU setup fine.

@mr.hrundi And I have tried that.

Have you tried using the Vista drivers instead?

Worth a try.

The drivers for Windows 7 64bit and Vista 64bit are the same.

I didnt even need to install drivers for my 8800 with W7 (I did later so I could use the nvidia control panel), dont think you would need to for a 275. Or is it a dual GPU card, I cant remember

I found that slightly overclocking or underclocking my card (7900gt) fixes this problem.  Download evga precision, overclock like 5% and then set the program to run on startup

The problem seems to be with anything 3D, I can get it too boot fine into the diagnostic mode on msconfig, but if I try doing anything that puts any real load on the card it just freezes, anyone know what could be causing this?

Maybe the video card itself is going bad.  Try it in a different computer and see if it still has problems.

Yeah I think thats the problem, I have no way to test it currently but I used rivatuner to underclock the card and it runs fine.
