Terminal is the best map for FMJ kills
Ugh, see I even hate the ones you like. Afghan is ok, but can be pretty shitty, Derail is always shitty, Wasteland is always shitty, Scrapyard is decent, Skidrow can be good fun, but can also be shitty.Longbow wrote:
Tbh I only really like 5 of them:mtb0minime wrote:
So after all this time, what do you guys think of the maps?
I'm a little disappointed. Most of them are just average, run-of-the-mill crap, and others are pretty terrible. Only one that stands out to me is Highrise, but even still, that map isn't the greatest, it's just one of the few I have more fun on.
Afghan
Derail
Wasteland
Skidrow
Scrapyard
Hate:
Rundown
Underpass
rest are ok, but nothing special. And the thing that unites all of them is that they are are freaking small.
Rundown I'm not a fan of, but have had some good rounds on, and Underpass I kind of like, but I acknowledge that it's shitty.
In CoD4 the maps seemed much more balanced and had good flow to them. MW2, not so much.
What I do like about MW2, and what some people may not like, is that the maps tunnel people. No matter where you are there are only 3 "lanes" the enemy can come from. Take Afghan for example, lane one is the road up from where TF141 starts, L2 is the downed plane area, L3 is the garden from the bunker around to the cliff. Most maps have possess these same characteristics.
"Raise the flag high! Let the degenerates know who comes to claim their lives this day!"
I like that also, and it was the same for MW1. But MW1 maps were much more circular in the sense that you and your team, and the battle, could flow between different parts of the map, and no one was able to camp anywhere for very long.Blade4509 wrote:

I know it's an abstract way of thinking about it, but I imagine MW1 maps as circular, or like a whirlpool, with the action constantly shifting throughout the map. Whereas in MW2, I consider maps more square, with action just bouncing back and forth linearly.
It's hard to explain what I mean
I understand what you mean. While there may be a few places a team can lock down and stop the flow of the action, and your team for that matter, that's what killstreaks are for. Predator missiles are awesome for destroying campers, and thereby restarting the whirlpool effect. Oh, and teamwork works too.mtb0minime wrote:

I miss Ambush, Crash & Strikemtb0minime wrote:

As for Derail & Wasteland, they are good maps for team sniping on voice comm. Wasteland reminds "All Ghillied" mission from MW1 & Derail is simply awesome - I kind of like snowy maps. Oh yeah, forgot that Sub Base/MW2 is also awesome.
I think killstreaks ruined this game. Maybe a few extra would be something nice and new to play with. But it's led to everyone sitting around camping, waiting for their killstreak. Fucking annoying and terrible. And it also sucks the fun out of the game if teams are on opposite ends of the map taking potshots and trying to rack in the streaks. At least with MW1 the maps were well enough designed that you could get through enemy lines and take out those campers. With MW2 it's a bit harder with the way the choke points are constructed, and isn't much fun.
Taking all that into consideration, I think Sub Base is one of my favorite maps. It's got the best design, and fits the CoD4 style. Earlier today I was running and gunning into enemy lines and racked up some good 10+ killstreaks. I haven't yet been able to pull that off as easily on the other maps.

Yes, Ambush, Crash, and Strike were some of the best maps for CoD4, and were what I was looking for in MW2 maps. So far the closest thing to it is Sub Base.Longbow wrote:

I was camping and I was like hey guys I got a nuke to my team, lulz were ensued
I haven't even bothered unlocking the nuke yet. I suck so bad at camping (too impatient, can't sit still and wait), I've just got a predator missile to get me to a helicopter to get me to a heli gunner.
If you find a good spot, they'll come to you, you just have to make sure you don't die... so many times has that happen to me grrr, only if you had sexbox i could should you some good camping spotsmtb0minime wrote:

If only I had a sexbox I wouldn't be in this dilemma because I'd be playing against massively shitty players=NHB=Shadow wrote:

Wasteland is fucking epic. Any who say otherwise are dicks and need to learn to snipe.
Seriously, Breacourt was always a brilliant map. Wish I could get a Kar98k to use on it though.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
the people that HATE wasteland are usually the people who can only run and gun with limited accuracy past 10 feetFlecco wrote:

(i say usually, NOT always! please read this part and avoid sending me stupid whiny messages)
i usually use the FAL with holographic and run around the outer edges of the map picking people off
Nah I don't really like the FAL. SCAR isn't bad for it though. Intervention and W2000 are more fun.

Yes, WA2000 pwns, hitting the 500 headshots mark was really no problem with this gun, after getting like 8-10 per round.Flecco wrote:

NINJA or steady aim
I've hardly seen any of the maps... can someone describe underpass?
I like Terminal, Estate and the one i've forgotten the name of...

Underpass is the Downpour of MW2.
