All cars are just a box with four wheels, the roads are the same for everyone, you can spend $1m on a car and still fail at driving or get totalled by a truck.
I don't see any point in spending that much on a car, if you do you're missing something in life.

I'd rather invest my money than waste it on a depreciating asset.
The guy driving the Zonda was probably a loan shark/triad leader considering it was Hong Kong

A good proportion of people driving flash cars are numbskulls who went into debt to buy their 'dream'.
Remember that when you're feeling inadequate.

I do assume he had insurance. I then also assume the people whos car he crashed into will get paid off by said insurance.

Or they can sue, either way.
Their car is still wrecked. And it takes time until the money from the insurance arrives. Time in which it is advised not to repair your car, just in case the insurance company sends an evaluator to (re-)calculate the damage. Most insurance companies don´t cover the expense of a rental car either, even if you´re job requires you to have an operating vehicle.
So if you´re car is totaled by some idiot driving into it, it can seriously fuck up your life, even though you get money.

Yeah sure, the average delicatessen owner can buy his son a $250,000 car.
Pretty sure they were in the drugs trade.

I'm quite sure, given the limited number of Zondas produced, they're unlikely to depreciate as a common vehicle would.  Better investments?  Sure, property for one.  Undoubtedly some buy these cars to compensate for other things lacking in their lives.  But there are plenty of others who enjoy the car and the experience of driving a machine with that much capability.

I don't have my driving license, so I wouldn't know...
...but why does everyone in fast cars swerve and crash instead of just brake? don't supercars have like...superbrakes
(also referring to the gallardo totalled by the italian police, after swerving...)
