Imagine it is your last day alive. You are certain you will die the next day by execution or whatever. You are madly in love with a close friend and have never told her/him. Do you tell them before you die, forcing them to live with the knowledge of potentially ground breaking love or do you die leaving your friend's mind at relative rest?

That's a tough one. I've thought about it before. In the end, I'd probably pussy out and not say anything. I think it'd be too much of a burden on the other person. What if they didn't love you back? Would they feel outrageously guilty after you died? What if they did? Would they feel guilty for not doing anything sooner?

I'd be dying the next day, so I wouldn't be tormented with any problems. I wouldn't want to place that burden and torment on someone else who was going to have to continue on to live with it.

Don't say anything, since you are going to die the next day the chance of a fairy tale ending is nonexistent. That said it would most likely make the friend feel guilty when your gone.

This is true, but depends on what your beliefs are in regards to afterlife (a whole other debate).

Personally, I think that when I die, I'm dead, that's it. I won't even be in nothingness, it's incomprehensible. So if I die, and the truth dies with me, so be it. Have you ever hid the truth from someone to protect their feelings?

I would tell them. Think of it like those parents with the missing children for long periods of time - telling them their child is dead is often better than keeping them wondering or worrying about it for years on end. At least in TV shows

I'd say. Maybe the other person has always wanted to hear you say it? In the long run, they would appreciate it more if you told them, even if they didn't feel the same.

Yes, you possibly cause them pain, and in knowing that would cause you pain, but I'd still tell them. It's honourable to not say anything to save them possible pain, but it's just not the way it should go.
