...and I have to say I really like it. It was time for the parents to get a new laptop- I'm posting from it now.

I tried it during the beta, but it didn't compare. Virtual machine didn't really show how good 7 is.

/seriously considering installing it on both gaming machines.

Works great. I haven't had any trouble with drivers, programs or games yet (installed it a few days ago).

Next time I format, which is pretty soon I'm thinking about trying 7. I'm still on XP Pro right now. Just need to get myself a 'legit' copy first.

Consider getting a dual boot system if you're still not convinced.

"problems" = system freezes and requires reset

I have this problem.

Besides that (lol), it's great.

switched from xp 32 to win7 64, and it's been awesome so far, no complaints yet. I haven't encountered any compatibility problems.

Upgrading my laptop in a few days. Have been running 7 on my PC for a couple of months now and it's great.

didja apply the hotfix?

so pretty much all the drivers i needed were right there, after install except the video drivers. i can't find drivers on Dells site because my laptop was never certified for win7.
there were updates available, installed them and had to reboot. there was a popup that said "you're system was updated, click here to find out more" and fuck yeah, win 7 goes out and found me drivers for video.

Windows 7 is OK, but I can't stand the UI. Most stuff is like Vista, except not really. For a veteran Vista user like me, that's hellish.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Freezer, i should have noted - the install i just finished was win 7 business pro 32 bit, as opposed to Ultimate i have on my desktop. never having used Vista business, i'm fine with the way this looks . . .

this
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

When I get my new PC stuff on Christmas I will install Win7 64.

I already have it on my laptop and it's pretty sweet.

I had this problem as well... do you have some powerful hardware installed? I've got a nice GPU and am overclocking and i would freeze all the time which needed resets...
Finally i figured it out - go to power options in the CP and change the level to "high performance". Uses more energy to power all your shit but freezing = gone.

I have been using windows 7 since August. I quite like it

got 2 copies of pro off MSDNAA and 1 copy of ultimate (for 10 bucks lol) through work.

Installing ultimate on my Christmas build (i7 860 here I come)

I dunno what you would consider "powerful", it's mid-high end stuff that's two years old. I can make it happen every time when doing big file transfers across hard drives...did that happen to you too?

Anyways I tried it, I hope that fixes it.

What does that even mean? I used Vista for years before 7, and I got along just fine with switching over.

I guess you're better at adapting than I am. The control panel is different, the whole Explorer UI is slightly changed, etc. Most of it is just minor stuff, so one will either not notice it, or get frustrated as hell at it.

He's just one of those people that think Vista is the best thing since sliced bread, and won't switch just on principle.
