PC won't start

so, this has happened before:

I put the PC in "Sleep" mode by accident
When I turn it back on, fans spin up lights go on, then 5 seconds later it turns off
Then, 5 seconds after than, it turns itself on again, 5 seconds later it turns off, etc etc etc
Previously, I'd just turn off the PSU, turn it on again, and then it'd start normally
That doesn't work now

halp.

I have reset the CMOS. What is the next step? RAM?

check in the bios... and you can usually set it to default settings...
check the power options also

it doesn't get to BIOS..

turns itself off before anything appears on the screen.

I may have not been clear..

The PC keeps turning itself off and on without me touching it. And it doesn't even get to the boot screen before turning itself off again.

Restarting the PSU and powering it up again just restarts the endless loop.

So,are you not getting a post screen at all when you turn it on? Is there any beeping?

Have you tried turning it off, unplugging it, turning it back on, then trying to boot? Don't forget to hold either Delete or F8 when it tries to turn on so you can boot into your BIOS.

Also, what are your PC specs?

No beeping, no post screen and I have tried all that.

Specs:

Q9300
4x1GB 1066mhz OCZ SLi
ATi 4500

can't remember the mobo tbh

Also, how old is your video card? I'm not familiar with ATI models...

Does your motherboard have a jack to connect a monitor? Normally, it's a blue VGA jack.

I'd try taking out your video card and starting the computer with your monitor connected to the mobo.

Some motherboards have a small display that has numbers or letters that will give a code based on what it is doing or if an error occurs. Does yours have this and if so what is it displaying?

Did it boot without the video card in? I'm guessing you might be having a power issue. Perhaps a larger power supply like a 650w would work...

450w is enough for that kind of machine.

Check all the cable connections; re-seat them, and while you do that, check for any metal coming in contact with the mobo.
It could be something shorting it out.
