Has anyone played in the beta yet? what are your thoughts? I got it today, first game I played i'm like wtf is this?, I just hope that, the game mode on MP is just a game mode and not the whole game... cause if it was wow what the fuck?? and people who have played longer then you have the advantage cause of the tech/units they've gotten!!
I though the project died months ago?
Sisco, I think youre thinking about Tiberium, the FPS?
Anyway, I didnt care much for 3, let alone will I care much for 4.

Beta isn't working on my PC.
Beta isnt worth it folks. Played it and the graphics aren't complete yet. You don't get to use all the units that will be available in the complete game. Just wait for march. You'll be much happier.

No, but much of the Dev team has been threatened with being laid off.Sisco10 wrote:

Ahh, I see. Something along those lines. So, is there any footage to be looked at then?Doctor Strangelove wrote:

Hmmm, graphics look like C&C3 but updated. Looks like the Mammoth MkII is back to me, but Im not sure I like those "big-ass" walker things. WTF are they? I seriously hope those fucking epic units (MARV, etc) aren't back, because if they are, Im gona have to miss out on the final C&C, which would piss me off to no end.
Im gona keep my eyes on this, but Im not gona get my hopes up about this one.
Having played C&C3 on the Xbox, which isn't that user-friendly, if this comes to consoles, I just hope they take on what Westwood did initially with the PS1 for C&C95, RA1 & Retaliation, with a permanent sidebar and allowing you to drag a box to select units...the most basic of fucking things. It was just as easy on the PS1 to play those games as it was a PC, and I probably played both equally in terms of time played (which was A LOT). I fail to see why it cant still be done.

read up around on cnc4, they've fundementally changed the game works and those bigass walker things are pretty much the centrepiece of it.

lol I wonder how many sales it will get compared to RA, Generals and 3.
noice
Well since RA3 is fucking terrible, I would imagine higher sales.KuSTaV wrote:

RA3 was really fun, I dont know what game you were playing
Oh I was playing the one where you could magically build buildings on water and everyone rushes in an RTS online meant for 4 year olds.Winston_Churchill wrote:

I like the idea of the planet gaining a control on the spread of Tiberium, with pipelines etc that are processing it. It gives the sense that the game/universe/war is coming to an end. The cutscenes, judging by the initial one in Manchester with Kane, look great.Blade4509 wrote:

But the harvesting mechanics? Im sorry...WHAT. Unless Im mistaken, now Ive got to micro to gain Tiberium? There are no bases? There is a (small) unit cap?
After BF2, I held reservations about EA, but to be fair, EA did a good job with both Generals & C&C3 (well, until the patch that increased costs and reduced income came along). Then, IMO, they completely lost the plot with RA3.
Ive been playing C&C since the original back in 96 (I came along a year late), every C&C title to date I still own on CD's, DVD's and PS1 CD's. Perhaps Im a traditionalist, but the first 2 games (C&C & RA1) are yet to be surpassed, and never will if this keeps up (i.e. RA4, Generals2, etc).
Now? Going on what Ive seen, I think that they have both lost and ruined the established principles and core mechanics of a once truely awesome game and franchise for its final instalment. This isn't C&C. Its an entirely new RTS with the C&C brand slapped on it. At this point in time, I think this might be the first C&C title that I wont be adding to my collection, but I shall have to see nearer the time.
Looking at the comments on those videos, it looks like Im in the majority - which is very concerning.
All the comments on Kotaku were going on about how terrible the beta is, and how incredibly unbalanced it is. Apparently some units stats have been increased/decreased by factors of 3-4. He said there were some 75% stats changes. That's not small tweaks, that's a completely broken game with some duct tape on it.
And that video about Tiberium harvesting just looks stupid. I play C&C to build bases and have battles. Not tell single units to collect Tiberium over and over again.

This may be just what they were going for. We should keep an open mind about it all.Snake wrote:

go play the beta to see how much it sucks for yourselves
Perhaps. I'm going to wait for a proper demo, not a beta, before I fully make my mind up.Blade4509 wrote:

Will probably be absolute shit compared to other C&C games.
I've been playing some RA2 lately, now THAT is proper C&C.

Anyone know if there will be Scrin?

Dunno. I know nothing about the storyline.
It seems EA etc have employed some charasmatic people to show the video. Although it does look interesting now, Im still gonna have to agree with this:
Im kinda changing my opinion about this...
Either way, I'll play the demo, then maybe pirate purchase it.

Thats also why I loved Generals, because the supplies in the back of my base suited my... methods of play (read: turtling). With this kind of re-vamped economics system, it seems as if they're forcing a certain type of gameplay, whereas all the games in the past have been relatively open.Spidery_Yoda wrote:
