Do you even listen to the Radio with the family at Christmas ... ? I can't recall ever having the radio on. If anything, it's just your average Christmas music playing.

do you know what; it was obvious that would happen after the ridiculous hatred campaign. At least now the RATM fans can leave poor Joe alone and just **** off.

GO JOE - NUMBER 2’S AMAZING!!!!!

I can promise you now, that RATM will NOT be played anywhere near me this Christmas - never heard of them until this silly campaign and i’m thankful I haven’t because they are full of absolute rubbish- call that music and you’re a complete idiot.

You know, it would be much more funny if Miley Cyrus got the top spot.

I actually prefer Miley to RATM <3

I dunno, generally speaking the anti X-factor crowd are a tad more sophisticated than the tabloid-reading x-factor, primarily female, viewers. People need to look beyond the "Rage against the machine crazy fuck you song done by a bunch of crazy rebel teens" and realise that it doesn't have much to do with anything.

Alot of people just hate what shows like X factor stand for, there's alot of hate towards reality TV in general these days too.

Interesting, they've been about for a quite a fucking long time and they still sell, yet nearly all x-craptor acts die off within a year.

lol, the people in that forum are ridiculous. It's as if they genuinely believe Joe has a long and prosperous music career ahead of him. Because, you know, people from reality TV shows are remembered for more than 5 minutes

What pisses me off about this whole thing, and I'm sure it's been said before here, I'm just to lazy to read 4 pages, is that the people from Xfactor (Simon, Joe, Cheryl) are all crying as if the number one spot should have been Joe's anyway. As if that because Xfactor contestants have had the last 5 christmas number ones, it's their right to have it this year too.

It'll be business as usual next year and just like the past Christ knows how many years, I'll be paying no attention at all to the charts, in fact this is the only time for as long as I can remember where I could tell you what the number one is.

Seriously, run down this list

and count how many songs you think are actually good/require skill. I could count it one hand, the music industry these days really is shit

this is true for 99.99% of the self-important 'rebels' and assholes that bought RATM this year...

the funniest thing is that > 5 yrs ago i was probably a bigger rage fan than most on this forum. it's what had made the entire thing such a shitfest- seeing tom morello act like such a goon when in my teenage youth i would lap up his political bullshit; now i see him as nothing more than bono with a pedalboard. everyone thinks that this is a triumph for 'alternative music' and a toppling of a mainstream institution, but all they have done is ruined all alternative credibility of a band like rage whilst bringing them further out from their comfy-sony signing to the total mainstream. great job, great job, now we have to listen to a song we've all heard 200 times before when we were age 13 blasted out over xmas.

K mate, k.

Who cares what song it was, the fact it overturned the Cowell marketing machine is an achievement in it's own. I happen to like Cowell, however.

the crux of my argument barely rests on the fact that i, like most people of our generation, was a rage fan when aged 13-15.

im talking about my personal fandom... rage came around with the nu-metal explosion circa 2001, when they were used on the matrix...

so calm down mr. smartass. im not gonna pretend to have been a fan of their FIRST material when i was like age FOUR. jesus fucking christ.

and again, the fact i was a fan isnt the construct of my argument. i merely mentioned it as a disclaimer so nobody thought i was just hating on the campaign because i dont like rage and their music. some people are so fucking pedantic, jesus, reply intelligently to my argument and stimulate some interesting discussion instead of slapping your 'i liked a shitty-fad genre of music before you' dick in my face.

I see.

But wasn't this whole "Bump RATM to No.1"-campaign started by NOT them? I'm a bit in the dark as to how this came about (other that people are sick of generic christmas hits manufactured and forcefed to us each and every year by the same people who tell us what to like year round).

I have all respect for Morello (since '92), in my eyes he isn't "Bono" at all. As Bono is a hypocrite flying around the world taking about world peace and ecology and how he is God, Morellos agenda has always been to activate the people to revolt. So in light of these two very different approaches, the comparison is not at all accurate.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was suddenly in a meeting with the Managing Director
