If you guys would be willing to help me put together an HTPC that would be fantastic. it has to play blu ray disks and be under $600 CDN.

One other thing is there a way I could plug an HD satellite reviver into it and have literally everything come out of the PC or a way to get the sound from the satellite into the PC

On the brink of being so cheap it's disposable. Bung XP on and run any media player that is GPU accelerated (I'm using media player classic home cinema) and it'll do 1080p easily. HD through anything but a GPU accelerated player it fails pretty badly tho, CPU is a bit piss weak for that sort of thing. It's dead silent, and it can attach to the back of your TV as long as you aren't using the wall mount holes for anything else

EDIT:
Oh forgot to say you'll need a separate bluray drive, it's got e-sata so that shouldn't be a problem.

Well, you could underclock it and remove the fan power, or get this.

Well, you could underclock it and remove the fan power

That's like paying a fortune for a Harley and then removing its V-twin so it makes less noise.

I'd read some reviews on that card you posted If it does full HD at decent FPS then you will not only save money but also make your HTPC silent like one should be.

This ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as … 6813128388 ) won't do 5.1 so either suggest (yes you) a better mobo or start lurking for a better sound card
