I thought the Smurf and Dances With Wolves references would have worn off by now. Shouldn't rely on the Internet to know when a horse carcass is thoroughly flogged.

Watched it yesterday and I don't understand what you found in it. It was cheesy and predictable and just plain shit. 3 whole hours of cheese.

Loved it.

Wasn't a lotr caliber of story but it worked.
The visuals were a feast for the eyes.

The political commentary seemed somewhat dated. Seems liked typical Hollywood elite crap to see the evil american military corporation defeated by the locals as something beautiful.

The Navi were ten feet tall and some of the bows were from sacred trees and the arrowheads no doubt contained some rare and hard stone or mineral that could in theory defeat ballistic glass.

I ate mushrooms and saw this last night in 3d, by far the best experience EVER

Do you remember the glowing trees, and those flying creatures with the brilliant colors? Imagine that enhanced by mushrooms, it was AWESOME... I will be doing that again!

Towards the middle I actually was absorbed into the world, I felt like I was one of the people and was so worried that one of them might die once I realized that was the reality

And my recent experience with skydiving really made me squeeze back in my seat when they jumped off things and banked really hard... I know exactly what thats like lol so I felt like I was falling with them

Well I saw it Saturday night in 3D, it's absolutely amazing! It took me a while to get used to 3D but once you did you're blown away by the awesome graphics.

The story was great. It seemed just like Dances with Wolves but better

The Na'vi's culture and way of life is awesome, wish I were a Na'vi instead of a human Hell they have that carbon stuff reinforcing their bones

Spoiler (highlight to read):
My only let down of the entire movie is that Trudy dies. I can't think of a single movie I've seen her in where she doesn't die but this time was a little too far.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.

Saw it - in 2D. May see it again in 3D.
Solid but predictable plot, I thought the acting was OK, great graphics and physics.
And the political side I'm in favour of

There is a big difference between watching a film on TV and in a cinema.
That and the playstation generations has such short attention spans films have to be endless mindless action to hold their concentration.....

It's a shame the public can't sit around for more then 2 hours without moaning 'tl;dr.' If only Cameron made Project 880 in to a 4-5 hour (or more) epic with the same technology as Avatar. He's said that he wrote enough material for 3 movies, but that seems only a reference to the length, as Avatar seems to have covered most of the bases.

Even without everyone bitching about tl;dr, 4+ hours is way too fucking much for any movie, and I sat through King Kong without any trouble.  The way Avatar was made streamlined the plot and characters in a way that kept the movie from dragging, but still kept it reasonable and managed to pack just about everything important.  No one wants to watch Sully run away from everything on Pandora for 20 minutes.
