I disagree.

I saw Inglourious Basterds twice as well.

Dark Knight as well. Once normally, once IMAX.

I'll probably see it again in IMAX.  I liked how the 3D effects were more about depth of field than of crap jumping out of the screen at you.  I've been to some others where that was all they did and it got old fast.

If I could have sex with this movie and have the priviledge of it bearing my children, I would.

There is still a waiting list for Avatar showings at IMAX theaters in this area. I want to see it in IMAX, but it'll be sometime in late January.

I'd see it 3 times if I had the money. But I want to be a Na'vi. Their whole lifestyle is cooler.

That kind of escapist thinking is not healthy.

Just like all these Harry Potter and Twilight fanatics, and little Chinese kids committing suicide to join the heroes of World of Warcraft.

how is the lifestyle of the na'vi better, you weird fuck. take away the whole cinematic-bias portrayal of humans as gluttonous and abhorrent dogs and compare a fairly-represented human lifestyle to the na'vi. they wander around worshipping trees and beating their chests like tribal apes. i'll take my mcdonalds and suburban lifestyle anyday.

How can you watch it for the 2nd or 3rd time? The story line will put you to sleep. I would imagine the eye-candy special effects is starting to get old.

Some of us appreciate the storyline.  I know I do.  "Boring" can mean so many different things.  Can you elaborate?  I've seen it twice already and will probably see it again.

I know I sound like a fanboy, but Pandora reminds me a lot of the island from the TV show Lost.  If youve got the right mindset to appreciate the story and setting, you will feel like you never want to leave.  Thats one thing sci-fi/fantasy films will always have over other genres.  James Cameron created the most realistic, living breathing fictional world I've ever seen in a film.  Some may find it boring... I think its awesome.  I used to day dream about places like Pandora (which apparently is how Cameron came up with the story).  To see something like this finally come into fruition gives me hope that future films will use special effects to support the underlying story, not just to wow the audience enough to distract them from a mediocre movie.

Its all about imagination.  Everyone has it, but you've got to let your mind wander into the story itself, dont think of it as just a hyped up movie trying to meet your expectations.

Personally, feel free to call me whatever you want, I think Avatar will be the next major trilogy.  I mean, if Transformers can get two films, Avatar should get 10 imo.

The story line was boring like not unique or surprising. The special effects were amazing and it is the first thing people say, but once you get past that what do you have?  I did not connect to the main character(s) did not feel sorry for him. Sigourney Weaver's character seemed like a canned character, though it seemed she crossed a sergeant and an egg-head scientist together to come up with her character.
The Nu vi (SMURF!!!) plight was too Green Peace for me.  Fook Green Peace, Fook Al Gore!!!!

I can summarize the parallelism between "Avatar" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" together in one paragraph:
The good guy is the odd man out in the beginning of the film; he is different from the rest of general populous. Everyone initially discredits him before he can proves his merits. Some where during the movie he proves himself and finds a niche were he can fit in. Everyone is fond of the good guy at this point. While he is fitting in with the in-crowd, he falls in love. The woman's Va-jay, jay makes him rethink what is best. The good guy changes his mind and does the "right thing" which contradicts the bad guy's motive or agenda. The good guy and the bad guy fight...the good guys states this is wrong and the bad guy states judas! The rest is history.

My point is: The story line could of been better and more unique. I do like the movie but not enough as much as you guys.

UPDATE: I felt more sorry for the aliens in District 9 than in Avatar and they did not speak English.
