Alright, I've wasted several of my valuable minutes reading various topics on how to transfer my PS3 system data (saves, updates) to my new PS3 Slim.  The short story is that I think my current PS3 is taking it's final shit on me, so I've decided to back up my data and buy a new Slim, then put the data on it.  I will then sell my fat PS3 to some unsuspecting swine fuck to recoup some of my cash.

Can anyone direct me to a good site for how to do this?  Remember, your speaking to a retard here...so type slowly.

Thank you.

P.S.  Anyone wanna buy a sweet PS3?  Works great.  PM me.

Doesn't the latest firmware have just a feature like that, that allows you to back up/transfer data between two systems.

Thanks for the (just the) tip Mek, but I am planning on backing up the data on an external HDD, then selling the system to buy the new one, then updating the new PS3.  Sorry, should have been more specific.

There's a backup utility for that

XMB >> Settings >> System Settings >> Backup Utility

I used to make game save backups with an USB key. You just go under your game saves and press Δ and it will give you options to save files on a USB stick.

What format does the PS3 recognize (Fat32,NTFS, ect)?  My PS3 does not seem to recognize my external HDD.

Well obviously the opposite of what your HDD's format is. I think most of external HDD are formatted in FAT32.

Ok, my PS3 is a communist pig.  It's about to become target practice.  I need a PS3 wizard to purge the demons inside this unholy machine.

Updates to come.
