Right, so, my car decided to die on me on Christmas eve (FML), figured i may as well ask you knowledgeable lot if you might know what's up with it before I roll it down to my cousins place tomorrow for a mess about. (FYI it's a Peugeot 206 1.9l diesel)

Basically it sounds rough as fuck even when it's sat still in neutral, try to pull away and it stalls unless you seriously fucking floor the gas and really gently let the clutch up, go any more than half way up with the clutch and it'll stall.

So to summarise, engine sounds rough as nails and it's massively down on power, my thinking is dead glow plug(s), piddly little diesel engine running on 3 cylinders would (I imagine) be noisy and powerless but, I know fuck all about cars

It had a small fuel leak a few days ago in the return fuel line, tiny job to fix but, it's making me consider the fuel lines as a possible culprit for problems too.

That's about the gist of it, I'd say merry Christmas but, obviously given my car's state, there is no god so Christmas is canceled
Sounds like a fuel issue. You probably clogged the line when you 'fixed' it. Glow plugs wouldn't just go bad all of a sudden (and would make the vehicle difficult to start more than anything else) so it's definitely an issue of fuel not getting to the engine properly.

Was not a Diesel but a regular fuel injection I had in the past but it was giving me similar symptoms and it was the anti-pollution system.
One sensor was giving the signal that too much CO2 was expelled so the computer was cutting the injection of gas drastically.

Good luck!

ROFL @ Mitch, yes coz your POS bricks on wheels last for a >>quarter of a million<< miles without an engine fault don't they?

Anyway, looks like a compression loss somewhere, cousin says it sounds like one of the piston heads is slamming around and watching the engine personally for the first time and seeing it shake all over the place I tend to agree, gonna tow it to a garage for a final verdict next week, looks like a replacement engine, not bad for 250k miles in 11 years bout time it died tbh

For those that may be interested (who I doubt is very many )  Turned out it wasn't that bad at all, bit of the cam belt had come off and got jammed underneath the belt, made it skip a bit and fecked up the timing, one new belt later and she's sounds as a pound, see if I can get another 250k miles out of it

I'm still amazed by how much shit that car has been through and it still hasn't had a serious mechanical failing, guess my lil eurofag car aint so bad eh? *looks at Mitch*
