BF2 + Ventrilo problem

Whenever I play bf2 and have vent open, the people in vent hear themselves through my mic somehow. I have voip disabled in bf2 and microphone selected in recording properties. Any idea what it could be and how to fix it?

Crap i changed my audio set up but there used to be a way i could mute the sound coming out of my speakers into the mic. I think it's called 'mute speaker feedback' or something like that...

On mine (creative - x-fi xtreme music) I've got a boxed called 'enable EAX effects' checked but the dB at 0.0. Then a slider under that called 'mic environment FX:' bit it's at 0% (there's no box to check on that one). All this is under the 'Mixer' tab in 'Game Mode' if that makes an sense or helps you at all...

Also, it might just be that your speakers or SO loud they actually blast sound back into your mic causing the noise the other people hear. On rare occasions when I play bf2 with people I can hear a grenade go off (or someone in the game say something or a certain gun, etc.) in my speakers then a split second later hear it if someone is talking at that time through their speakers.

dont use ventrillo its a piece of crap
teamspeak 3 is the way to go

The solution is to disable stereo mix in your audio settings.

I'm not on speakers, I'm on a headset. And there is no way my headphones are loud enough for the mic to pic up sound.

I've been using ventrilo for 5-something years, it's fine. This only started happening once I patched to 1.5

I have stereo mix (I think it's called "what u hear") disabled.

Check from your ventrilo setup's voice tab that the input device is set to microphone.

Teamspeak 3 really is better, DU hasn't even tried it because he got too heavily involved in the ts sucks and vent is better argument, so now he can't change sides.

They're each as good as each other. I used TS for a good year or two when playing BF2 with a clan, but when I started playing CoD4 I used Vent. The only reason I use Vent nowadays is cause Dauntless kicks me from his TS server, but DU invites me to his Vent.

I preferred it TS yeah, but they were pretty similar, the only argument vent has was "oh but its soooooo much better quality", which was a load of shit, they were basically the same. Also if you got a high ping when downloading or something, sometimes on vent there was a bug where you stop hearing everyone for a while, but they hear you, then in about half an hour you get all the back log of people talking on after another. Pretty stupid...

you were using TS2 and we're talking about TS3
