All I keep hearing about is 3DTV these days. But I've yet to meet anyone that actually gives a shit. Most people are just concerned with having a regular HDTV, and then having some sort of regular HD service like Sky HD or something. None of this 3D shit.

Personally I think it's all a gimmick. HD is just about breaking into mainstream now, and they're bringing out this 3D shit. Nobody is going to want to put on glasses or something special everytime they want to watch a film or something. 3DTV won't take off anytime soon.

Apparently South Korea is bringing 3DTV out as fast they can, but I agree, seems like a gimmick. I'd be for ALL channels being broadcast first in HD. Give me that and then we can talk about 3D.

Channel 4 in the UK broadcast a 3D week on one of their sister channels. Was a load of shite.

If they were to release it, then the prices of SKY, Virgin, and Licence Fees would have to go up, which I don't think people would take to too kindly.

3D at the Cinema is epic frankly and I've sat there thinking I'd love the effect at home, but at the same time having to wear glasses to watch a film would piss me off.

And the 3D channel 4 did was ye oldie worldie 3D using the blue and red split colour channels, which is terrible, current 3D uses 2 differently polarised lenses and gives normal colour reproduction, but requires the image to be displayed 2 times.

Yeah, at the cinema it's pretty good. Me, big bro and a mate went to see Toy Story in 3D, was pretty awesome.

First 3D movie I went to see was 'UP', and loved every moment of it, then saw Avatar and that in 3D was nothing short of spectacular, I think I'd need one seriously fkin huge TV at home to get the same effect tho, having 3D on a 42" just wouldn't cut it.

I still need to go see Avatar, although there's no 3D cinemas in my area.

I would say that it should be left to cinemas, until you can afford a 100" TV and actually have the wall space

I think 3D entirely is a gimmick. I personally hate shit jumping out at me so I really don't understand the hype. Sure it's more immersive but I only wanna go so far.

Avatar only used jumping out like once or twice in the movie. Thats what makes it different from the previous movies, its used for depth instead of gimmicks
