Alternatively, just "obtain" win7. They already got your money, no reason to feel bad about it.

Yeah, I think you might be actually. Or you buy a cheap XP CD from somewhere. Or pirate it. Whilst not entirely legal, in this case it's morally justifiable if nothing else.

you can do a fresh install using the win7 upgrade dvd:

I did it on my computer no problem. ended up having to do the registry hack.
