maybe a silly question:

i wanna format C: but i dont want to reinstall all patches and stuff..

is it enough to burn 2 dvds with the whole BF2 on C:, than format C:, than install BF, than copy/paste the safed BF from the dvd over the new installed..
will this work? (did this with enemy territory and it worked fine!)

im afraid of format c: ^^

I'm not sure that would work. It's not that hard to install the game again though.

Install Battlefield 2 > Install SF > Install patch 1.22 FULL > Install EF > Install patch 1.22 FULL (again).

That's all you gotta do.

If you format your c drive, you have to reinstall everything. hehe

It would be best to just reinstall the game after the format. BF2 requires all the registry settings to be there. ET doesn't require that stuff.

if you format c then copy all of the files back on... then that is defeating the purpose of reformatting.  you format in order to start clean (or from an image).  If you wanted to do this, I would make a fresh install (format with nothing else installed) install any of your completely necessary programs (not necessarily games, but okay if you want), drivers, aim, etc, then use a program like Norton Ghost to make an image, this way instead of formatting you just completely replace what you have with an image of the drive and go from there, where you only need to update and install less important programs.

Ditto. my 2 cents would just be. to save time when reformatting. save your Documents, no programs. that saves time. Also, just buy a second harddrive, thats what i did, i ahve 2 harddrives running on my compy.

dude you sound like you have no idea what ur doing, why do you want to (re)format C: / installing patches will be the least of your concerns, game patches are more trouble some then installing your OS?/OS patches? The only point to reformat is to have clean installs and if you jsut copied your BF2 to a disc straight up u'd have some issues

Theoretically you could do it if you also saved all the registry info also, but that would be much harder and more time consuming than just re-installing the game.

Also, TriggerHappy, are you sure you need to patch before installing Euro Force?  I thought EF had it's own patch version, which is why you need to re-patch after installing EF in the first place.  Can't you just patch after installing SF and EF?

If you try to install EF before patch 1.2 it will give you an error and tell you to patch to 1.2.
