I recently upgraded to windows7. Whenever I talk in vent people say they can hear themselves through my mic somehow. My headset isn't loud enough for the mic to pic up the headphone volume. If someone talks while I'm talking their voice creates feedback and distorts everything (on their side). I tried running vent in compatibility mode (XP sp3) but I get the error:

VoiceCommMixerStart: Init failed: Failed to get mixer device caps.

I checked my other volume settings and I have stereo mix muted. I also get a lot more static from my mic now but I'm not sure if it's related to windows7.

The mic works fine in sound recorder, no pops/distortion, just in vent.

Did you install XFi drivers or are you running with drivers that 7 installed automatically? Have you tried other VOIP programs?

Are you using "stereo mix" in your sound settings? (I think it's stereo mix)

I used it when i wanted to record sound in game but i found that every sound that would come out of my speakers was also going down my mic. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the XFi cards but since i got my Xonar DX i haven't had to deal with it.

I installed xfi drivers. This problem only happens in ventrilo. I have "What U Hear", which is stereo mix disabled in my sound panel.
