Anyone use Picasa?

My mom has about 7 images on her laptop, somehow associated with Picasa program. They are 'TIF' images, and they are about 99mb in size. Resolution is 5184*3360. Theyre very low quality, but large size. I dont understand what they are. What does picasa do?

TIF is an image.

Shouldn't need picasa to open it

Picasa is an image view and organizer.

Picasa is just an image reader.

If you want to convert them, you could use Gimp, it's the free and simple version of photoshop basically.

Just open an image in gimp, then click save as, and choose whatever format you're comfortable with. Then delete the original. You can also change the resolution and file size by reducing quality.

Things from a scanner can be big depending on the dpi they were scanned with.

I think it is a scan, because i just found a picture of family that was taken probly about 22 years ago. Thank you guys for the help once again!!
