This accident occured last Sunday in the Buenos Aires Raceway, while the Brazilian Stock Car was racing, previous to TC2000, an Argentinian category. The Brazilian pilot Gualter Salles didn't suffer injuries. A miracle indeed.
Racecars are ridiculously safe. The first thing they design it for is speed, the next is for a big crash. That's one thing that makes it more easy to watch these races.
I give +1 karma to anyone who posts a link of a cool highway accident caught on tape. Somehow I like them.
I'll admit, the only interest I have in most races on raceways are the crashes...
I also liked the reference to how high his car got flung:

... wait, is the race car driver actually a pilot? maybe I completely misinterpreted that... whoops!

I don't need any more karma but here you go bro. Tons of clips on google...and youtube if you want.
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
holy fuck thank god for those racing cages thank god for racing engineers
Pilot = racer = race car driver.commandochristian wrote:

That´s fake isn´t it? Cars don´t explode just because you drove them into something at high speed?!jsnipy wrote:

And fuel isn't combustible, surely?Sisco10 wrote:

Irrelevant in Canada. We use maple syrup, not gasoline.AussieReaper wrote:

In Canada, fuel takes implode.

But that´s why tanks are kinda sealed to not explode in the second of impact, surely?AussieReaper wrote:

It didn't explode right at the moment of impact.
And fuel isn't only in the tank. You've got the fuel lines and oil which can also alight.

Yeah, it exploded a second later. I´m still on the hollywood-fake side, especially if it runs with maple syrupAussieReaper wrote:

Ford has had a habit of building cars in the past that explode rather easily during a crash. IIRC, the Ford Pinto had a high probability of explosion if rear-ended. I believe the Ford Crown Vic also had that problem at some point, though it might have been a different car.Sisco10 wrote:

I think it gets me when the car sets on fire
seriously what the fuck
that bus did a lot more than crash into the Porsche - where did that happen? is there maybe a news story to go along with it?
