Ford has had a habit of building cars in the past that explode rather easily during a crash. IIRC, the Ford Pinto had a high probability of explosion if rear-ended. I believe the Ford Crown Vic also had that problem at some point, though it might have been a different car.
Yeah, I heard about that, but wasn´t that like 10 years ago. And IIRC they did recall all of them and refitted new tanks.

I have no idea about the Crown Vic, again, it's a vague memory. The Pinto was from the 60s/70s, though.
