It doesn't matter where the sound is coming from in this case. We are arguing if it made a sound. It would regardless of who or what is there to hear it or what caused said sound.

But it's just a wave of air that is meaningless, until it is heard - and then becomes sound.

The force of the particles in the tree coming into contact with the particles of the ground is translated into energy which vibrates the air. I think. Fuck it.
