also, how can i wipe all the data from it? once i plug my ssd in, im going to remove the raptor then format the ssd. should i just delete the partition on the raptor before i install the ssd?

During the OS install setup onto your new SSD simply select to format the Raptor. Format SSD afterwards as well of course.
