I thought you were gonna post links to decent Valentines day cards, I could help you there, I dunno wtf those cards are but they're way overpriced, you can buy glitter and glue for a lot cheaper, make your own, she'll appreciate it more too.

Tbh you're typically always better off getting the newer tech.

Get the 240, not gonna go out of fashion so soon. Sure, the 9800 is still a great budget card but get the 240. Can you wait for the 3/1 series?

the main differences between the two cards is

The 9800 GT specs
effective memory clock  1800MHz
Stream Processors 112
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Type    DDR3

The 240
Effective memory clock 3588 MHz
Stream Processors    96
Memory Size    512MB
Memory Interface    128-bit
Memory Type    GDDR5

The 240 also has RAMDAC    400 MHz and the 9800 GT does not

Are you just upgrading or is your card dead?  Because the 9800GT is just a renamed 8800GT as far as I know.

my 8800GT died so I am now using an 8500GT and its killing me

I think the 5770 is the best choice for my system.

what are some reliable ATI brand names ?

5770 has the same performance (give an FPS or two) as the GTX 260, while having more features, better cooling, less power usage and usually a lower cost.

Yeah I see that they are nearly the same card but the ATI uses much less power.

i think that's pretty good price/performance ratio. i don't think you'll have any problems with today's games.

Not at all. Runs any game out just now at 1920x1080 without breaking a sweat.
