Samsung, Panasonic or Phillips makes very good screen right now ...
Plasma is still good, burn-in is no huge issue seeing as most up to date channels have rotating logos that moves just enough to prevent burn-in ...
LCD has come a long way ... even on bigger screens ...
LED is not the tech you would go for, wait for OLED ...

wasnt on espn but for like an hr max. i can still barely see the logo, but it has gotten a little better after about 15 minsJenspm wrote:
There's got to be something wrong with your TV, unless you've been watching ESPN for 3 days straight?
I have 3 plasmas, never had a single issue with burn-ins what-so-ever. And that includes prolonged viewing of the same channel..
pretty ghey. i wonder if i can return it. its raining and the box is out next to the dumpster though
NEVER ever throw the box away until the guarantee is not valid any longerwhaaaaaaaaaat wrote:

from wiki
might be that insteadBoth plasma-type and LCD-type displays exhibit a similar phenomenon called transient image persistence, which is sometimes confused with screen burn but is not permanent. In the case of plasma-type displays transient image persistence is caused by charge build-up in the pixel cells (not cumulative luminance degradation as with burn-in), which can be seen sometimes when a bright image that was set against a dark background is replaced by a dark background only; this image retention is usually released once a typical-brightness image is put back up on the display and therefore does not interfere with the display's typical viewing image quality.
dude i dont have room for a big ass box in my apt. i turned the tv on and it worked fine so i threw it outVaregg wrote:

Yupp ... comes in handy if you are to return the product for service, guarantee, moving etc etc ... you can get a hefty deduction on your guarantee if you don't have the original box ...Jenspm wrote:
what? You keep the box for several years than?Varegg wrote:

The best way to get rid of screenburn is by viewing white noise:whaaaaaaaaaat wrote:
