I don't know what I'm doing wrong here...

Yes I use Adobe Premiere, no I don't have Sony Vegas, but if anybody can help me out that would be awesome. I made a 10 min long video, 960x540. The quality is kind of poor even after rendering the file for fours in Premiere, it turned out to be a 400mb MPEG2 but I'm disappointed with the quality.

I guess I don't know how to encode or what format to choose...

MPEG2?
H.264?
Bitrate settings?
Video settings?

I'm looking to get the highest quality. Is there a way to encode it in high quality using Premiere, then Super C to compress it more, but retain the original quality to an extent?

Try H.264 at a bitrate of at least 5000kbps. Render a sample of the work instead of the whole thing so you get an idea of what it'll look like. If you don't like the way it looks (sometimes can look a little pastel-y or plain) try encoding to divx or xvid.

thnx for the tip. I've been doing just that. This time I set it on H.264 with a bitrate of 10mb. 50 fps. 40 second clip ended up being only 40mb and the quality was I would say, 7/10.

I'm trying an MPEG2-Blu-ray setting this time. The file was estimated to be about 150mb for the same length of clip, so I am hoping this will do the trick.

Then I wonder if I can use Super C to convert to a .mkv file to reduce the file size...?

It might reduce the file size but it will also reencode the whole thing and you'll lose quality.
