Fuck I'm an idiot. I went to Gamestop to trade in some shit and then pre-ordered the game there. Now I'm on their website and it looks like I can't get access to the beta because I'm an in-store customer, and I probably won't get any of their fancy bonus weapons/items either.

afaik the bonus weapons are all achievable normally in the game, us preorders just get them from the get-go...

Only limited item afaik will be the Garand M1 which will only be available for veterans... damn I will be using that thing 24/7 ;D

(I purchased it off steam, I don't live near any of the special shops, and the price was pretty good on steam aswell)

Purchase from steam, download beta, get key, then cancel order.

I was under the impression that you couldn't cancel steam purchases?

Why don't you just call the store and cancel there?
Then order it off steam

Yeah, you can cancel pre-orders. I canceled my order a couple days ago. You'll have to send them an email to support asking to cancel it though, there's no option on their support page.

When you cancel the game will be removed though, so you'll have to download the beta from somewhere else and then use the key you got from steam.

Oh well, I've got the PS3 demo to hold me over anyway. And still got a bunch of other PC games to play, oh and then there's BF2 that I'm still not done with yet.

At least the bonus shit will be unlockable at some point, that was my main concern. I'm not super-amped enough about the game to really really really want the beta, but it would've been nice. Arg

And by the look of it you'll unlock them pretty fast too.
Having the tracer dart gun right form the start is the only advantage IMO.

The Thomson is really usefull for assault recons imo, and the WWII 1911 is definately the best of the 3 pistols in the beta...

Checked the weapons and gadgets page and found the G3, M14 EBR, and M1 Garand with attached bayonet. The Garand will be the battlefield veterans unlock. All 3 of these guns are available to all classes.

I refuse to get 1943 just for the Garand. G3 and M14 sound solid though.

No it's a bfv unlock, don't need 1943 you just need enough battlefield games signed on this http://veteran.battlefield.com/

I wonder if bayonet makes a difference in melee by the way.

Are you positive? I heard you had to be a 1943 veteran which isn't enabled on there yet.

Edit: I searched again and it's all speculation. Can't find any official confirmation if you actually need 1943 or just veteran status.

Yeah, i got them after 2 days of playing or so. Really fast. Got the Colt and Thompson before the Dart. Thompson is really good for Engies, or Jihad-Wookies.

It´s okay, but somehow I have the feeling the Thompson has a bigger punch.

having just played a scrim for the first time i reckon this game, with some userfriendiness tweaks, could be pretty good for ladders

Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me moment: accidentally brought down building on top of friendly squad. the response on vent was surprised, to say the least. but i killed the mcom.

IIRC, in BC1 to get those unlocks from that "find all five" thing you had to have a certain cumulative veteran rank from all previous Battlefield games.
I highly doubt that they'd make it based on a single game, more so, as the PC version of BF1943 will actually be released after BC2.
Would be quite unfair against PC players.
(Also, because I already have rank 4 on that page, rank 5 in-game.)

The battlefield veteran system works after how many games you have total, I have all the ones for PC except BF1943 and that gives me a Veteran Rank 4

I believe 5 is the highest...

How does it correlate to the game, though? I have a veteran rank of 1 and I dont get any of those shiny weapons.

(and I cant get my 2142 name to work. )

Read somewhere that you can get veteran status for BF2 and 2142 by just setting up a character in the demos and then using that login to unlock them on the veteran site.

Have not tried it though, so cannot confirm if it works.

Everything above the tier 3 items is locked in the beta... and Veteran support is not in it either...

Remember that in 2142 your soldier name is not your login
