Speczz:
My CPU cooler is a Noctua NH-U12P, with just the one fan on it (so no push/pull). In an Antec P182 with its stock fans.
Without any OC at all, using prime95 for an hour:
Core Voltage 1.136
FSB 333
Temp Min 44
Temp Max 60
After reading some reviews, forum posts, etc about both the Noctua and the E8500 it seems this is quite high.
I took the FSB to 400 (3.8GHz) with a core voltage of ~1.16 and the temps after about 15m of prime95 were 65+ which is too high from what I have been reading (the Intel specs say 72 max, but something about reducing that by 5 for 45nm CPUs?).
Point is, should I take my Noctua off and reseat it with some good thermal paste? Or is my CPU just shit. Cables are fairly neat, I dont think they are a problem.
