The air to air stuff in BF2 is fun, it's the air to ground thats balanced in favour of the air at the mo. Wonder where the shoulder-fired stingers are???   :-/

Try the NAW Mod, You even get the Stingers on your Choppers. The way EA should have done it in the first place.

Considering I bought BF2 for $30, SF for $25 and EF for $10.  I'd say it was worth it.  Well, I'm iffy on EF

For my ~700 hours of gameplay I've never complained about anything. So yes, BF2 is worth its money for me. BF2 is  one of the greatest online FPS games I've seen for the last 5 years.

Hell yeah. But I got it for free so I really can't complain

Seriously though, I think it's a great game overall and if I bought it I'd consider it money well spent.

True, in more than one way too.

2)   One mode of game play (its all domination, even though theres a drop down that makes it look like you can find a different game type. There isn't one!)
Stupid that, yeah.

3)   To not be able to use all the weapons offline. (why can't unlocks be used in single player)
Absolutely dumb this. And now it looks like you can't even unlock them to try offline, see what you might like as your next unlock.

4)  To have to buy an expansion pack so that I can use more powerful weapons, either that or just get outshot every game.
Nah. It is really true what they claim - the unlocks aren't better weapons, just different. Each class's original and unlock has strengths and weaknesses, you can see this easily if you check the specs.

I do think it sucks that you can bring SF weapons into BF2 itself but none of them are really head and shoulders above the ones in the standard game.

Finally, I wasn't expecting to have given up on playing good games within a 6months of owning it and the expansion. Don't get me wrong, the concepts are excellent. But I get torn between playing "properly" and just getting arty'd cos my slow methodical and tactical gameplay doesn't suit the game.
I have this problem too about a lot of tactical areas but the game is the way the game is and you have to adapt or die. Bear in mind a lot of it is what might be termed emergent gameplay, quite a bit of it would not have been foreseen (hence the tone-down of various features in successive patches).

Or just run 'n' gun and get as many points as I can by whatever means possible. Sometimes its spawn die spawn die spawn on leader die spawn on flag arty'd  spawn on other flag tv missile.
Yep, some days you just can't catch a break.

Sorry, I was expecting a more tactical/realistic game, not something like unreal tournament/counterstrike.
Seriously it's nothing like UT (believe me, I know). I don't know Counterstrike at all well but I don't think it's really like that either.

I'd like to play the game cos its good...
It sounds like it's just not really a good fit for you.

yes, very much so.

so far i've paid $50 for the game, $30 for SF, $10 for EF, and about $600 in random computer upgrades/parts/accessories that i wouldn't have bought if it wasn't for BF2.

...and i still think it's worth it.  it's a pretty good game.

I just have the base game and I got it off Ebay for 27$ so yah It was worth it.  It gives me the break I need from World of Warcraft when Im tired of looking at that, and WOW is 15$ a month on top of the 40$ original purchase...

So no subscription fees for an online game = Kick A$$!

SF would been good if the bad GOT TO TRY THE NEW WEAPONS INSTEAD OF USA. Being on the "Good Side" get all the new weapons to try out, nightvision sucks, other than that BF2 is good and barely play SF just got the weapons and they are good. Not gonna pay 10$ for an expansion where I only get 3maps and some new stuff.

Best game I bought in a long time.

Just wish EA weren't learning from Funcom when it comes to the attiude of patching.

90% of the stuff that has been patched out was stupid and could have been fixed with code.

examples:
Shooting while diving suffers a HUGE penalty to accuracy.
Same with jumping.
Claymores need _placing_ not throwing around like candy. The damn things are top heavy ffs.
(would have no issue with 4 or 5 clays at that point as the current fix doesn't really change jack)
etc etc

Night vision PWNS. 90% of people can't use it effectively and get blinded, flashbangs just add to the fun.

And Zukabazuka, it's a _booster_ not an expansion.
Would you pay $20 for an expansion with 6-8 maps and some new stuff?

Cos EF is £5.99 for me.
Armored Fury is predicted to be the same, now, £12 is still still cheaper than SF was, so technically, 3 boosters is an expansion, it least by my warped English terms.

Was it worth the $50 I spent a couple days after it came out? Hmm, well not right away...

Let me first start off saying that I played single player for a couple of days to get the hang of BF2. So I tried BF2 on unranked servers for a start, under a different account called Rejic. I played a few times on the account to find out, the game was unplayable with lag for me. I thought, I spent $50 on the game and I can't even play the damn thing online? So in August I thought I would try again with a different account for something different. Still it was laggy. 1.12 came and I started playing with my current account that I had created in August. Suprinsgly it ran fine with no lag on US servers. In the beginning it wasn't really worth the money but, now I would say hell yes!

Stock weapons are the best.
And I like this game, and I also like artillery.
