I've been looking around and seriously thinking about buying a new rig lately. I keep adding products to my 'shopping cart' and then starting over. I simply cannot make up my mind...

The thing is, I don't really need the system now. I want to wait for a game to come out that I really wanna play and then upgrade. What I'm asking is will the prices of the now new graphics cards (5770, GTX260 etc...) come down a significant price, aswell as the new-ish DDR3 memory and the new i3, i5, i7 processors?

I won't really be using the PC much from now till a kick-ass game comes out so am I better off waiting and then purchasing? Will the prices really have fallen that much?

Bloody Christ, how many threads are you going to make?

You're always better off waiting if you have no need for an upgrade. Everything will get cheaper and faster as time passes. The only person who can decide if you need an upgrade or not is you.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Depends how long you wait. There's not much new tech scheduled to come out soon, aside from the GTX 100 series. That'll bring the price of the 5850/5870 down a chunk, but that's about it.

The prices may fall but don't really expect it to be much at all.  That said if you don't need it now and can save the money (I can't that's why I just upgraded while I had the cash) you could more than likely save a little coin or maybe get something a little better for the same amount as now.  The time frame your talking about also has a major factor in this.  If your talking waiting a month or so it won't have much change but 6 months or so could have fairly large changes.

Sorry but I hate spending stupid amounts of money on bits of plastic. I know I'll love watching movies in HD and playing the latest games on the best graphics and sound but I just can't bring myself to purchase it.

If you guys had say, 500-700 euro. What components would you buy to make up a full PC (excl. accessories [Monitor, keyboard, speakers etc...] from www.komplett.ie

Case
Mainboard (incl. 7.1 soundcard)
Processor
RAM
HD
CD-DVD (current one is fine)
PSU (already have a 500 watt one so it's not really needed)
GPU

All reliable brands. I've come to my senses and realized I don't care what they look like, once it performs well...

Well, go! Karma for whoever makes a really good system with that shitty budget.
