not really, if you just play premium hands and dont overrate low pockets and draws you can make it relatively deep unless you get bad beat, and the luck factor is inversely proportional to the time youve been in the tournament.

and the odds arent that bad of getting As-Js or AK, about 1 in 28ish and considering how many hands you play in a tournament so its not too hard to stick to premium hands if you are patient, and fill in lower pairs, suited Aces, connectors and broadway cards

good players are easier to read, its a lot simpler to work out their ranges, you dont have to factor in the fact that maybe someone got lucky with two pair after calling a PF raise with J 3
