The thing with Sci-Fi is that planets always seem to be monotonous. They're never complex/diverse like earth is. Speaks of lazyness on behalf of the writers/creators of it. You got a snow planet. A desert planet. A jungle planet. The city planet. blah blah blah

But yeah most planets are the same sort of thing all over. Most always seem to have oxygen rich atmospheres as well i.e. those in Star Wars or Star Trek.
