I'm wanting to upgrade my current rig to i5 specs, and I was wanting a bit of input from y'all.

Current Specs:

Cheiftech Dragon
Asustek Crosshair
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+
3gb DDR2
Ati Radeon 4670
Enermax 565W
Maxtor 500gb
W7 Ultimate
Will keep the case, gfx card, psu (if it's enough for i5) and hdd.

Looking to get i5, mobo, and 6gb DDR3
Not really got a budget in mind, but something as cheap as possible whilst still maintaning high quality.

This is what I have in mind

i5 750
Asus P7P55D   Presidentsheep's suggestion
6gb Crucial 1600mhz ram

So, thought on that bundle would be much appreciated, swap stuff in/out and just general feedback really

Thanks!

4 RAM slots, dual channel.

You want a i5/i7 compatible, they have 6 slots and tri-channel.

It's got only 4 slots for RAM, and it's only dual channel. You'll need one with 6 slots (even if you get 3x2GB) with tri-channel support, otherwise it won't werk.

You might as well go for 4GB now. 1600Mhz is more than fast enough, and you'll never max out 4GB anyway, but if you really want 6GB you'll need 6 RAM slots and tri-channel support.

Haha Gigabyte boards are almost indentical except for looks. And their boards rock. Another nforce user blaming ASUS?

I have had 10 ASUS boards and every non-nForce board from them has been awsome.

Fair enough, I've had 2 ASUS and they've both gone wrong and quite a few gigabyte ones, all worked perfectly.
Fairly sure one of the ASUS ones was nforce though tbh
