Has anyone had experience in the Lawn Mowing business?

Just a suggestion But what I would do is go towards lawn care, offer people the service of not only maitaining there gardens but improve them also, for instance, offer to mow lawns, fertilize 'em, rake them etc and so on. That way it will take you longer to do the work, say half a day to propely treat, rake and mow, water said lawns, you can charge a little more for the service, but you gain a yearly contract?

protip: Gather a group of friends (3-4), one for each task (mowing, weeding, blowing, water/fertilizer), pick out a single street block that doesn't have mexicans working already, and try to sell your 'product' to as many houses on that block as possible.

Working as a group has several benefits;
- Your image is that of a serious group of people, not a teen looking for easy cash
- You work A LOT more effectively
- You can afford to offer several services to several houses (ie- fertilizer, weeding, etc, not just mowing), which in turn gives higher profits (the hourly wages will rise with a package like this, I can assure you)
- You split the expenses

Also important: Remember to wear wifebeaters, a worn cap backwards, don't shower, arrive in a pick-up with shitty music through $5 speakers.

But we also split the profit, which the profit is already so little (unless i work on rich peoples lawns but theres not a lot of rich people in my area) that splitting it by 4 would make it almost pointless.

Personally I wouldn't be talking about a gang of people as it is really unnescary (dam no spell check!) Just other a lawn service that you can do over a couple of days for instance. I mean to add to my last post, you'll have yearly work that if you do well at then you attract more work in the end, thats how I became a Tree Surgeon! Started off doing lawns for people, then people saw my work and asked me to do hedges and as you can work out it esculated from there There's no legal requirement for lawn carers to work in pairs as the injury risk is very low, so its better to run by yourself. Do it but remeber that it is only really a secondary income to be honest, currently I cut trees during the week and then if I need extra cash I will look at doing lawn/garden work at the weekends I hope I have been of some use?
