Alright i have a Gateway, tri-core

AMD Phenom(tm) 8450 Triple-Core Processor, 2100 Mhz,

Nvidia 7600Gt

300GB HD

4GB ram.

Windowns Vista 32-64 bit, right now im on 32 but can redo with 64.

My video card went out on me, so thinking of getting a new one, Think my PC is good enough for newer games with just getting a bigger card...9800 or bigger. Or should i scrap this and go for a whole new system?

if i remember, Gateway uses a proprietary motherboard.
won't stop you from upgrading the vidcard (or the ram or hard drive) but if you want a new build,
you may have to start from scratch. how confident are you building your own?

Make sure your PSU is up to the job if you get a new GPU.

I have build one of my own before, so im pretty confident. I had bought a surround sound card for my PC and more fans and video card so i went with a 600W PSU so there wouldnt be any strain. Im just not very good with CPU is my only problem, i have heard these tri-core are not the best and to go with dual or quad. Im trying to stay within the $1k range, want a good machine but i dont have to be able to run everything on max, long as its pretty good and runs smooth.

I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.
