Choosing a harddrive?

Hello.

My 200gb hdd rocked back in 2005 when games were only 1gb large max. However, being that they're in excess of 11gb each im getting filled up.

So,

My budget: $100 ($120 TOPS)

I would like atleast 1TB of space.

Western Digital has always done me right.

How big of a diff does cache size make?

Suggestions please?

Heres an 800gb but it only spins at 5400 rpm, is that significantly slower than 7200?

Also i would love to try RAID-0 cause i heard its very fast, but im not finding any decent size drives at 50 dollars ha.

Good job, you actually managed to post something decent.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

The reviews on newegg seem good, significantly more good reviews than bad.

They're among the fastest on the market.

I've got two of the 500GB versions, not two 1TB.

But yeah they're the best out just now for that price.

@OP 10,000 is better but 7200 RPM will suffice.....Having said that, SSD HDD are the way to go if you have the money...
