It's pretty obvious how it happened, some dude took his kid to work and told him what to say to a few airplanes. Doesn't seem like too big a deal really, I'm sure the dad was capable of taking over immediately if the kid mis-spoke.

I real-life pilot did that with his kids once, he let them each bank the plane a bit and then it crashed and everyone died...

it was on Air Crash Investigation, its true.

Hahaha, that's cute. Props to the dad for taking care of his son. Also, if he's only working that end of the transmission, it's non-consequential.

Kid did a pretty good job from what I heard, I see no problem here.

Hell, I marshaled in a 737 when I was 6 years old.  My dad worked at Manchester Airport and would take me out on to the ramp all the time (granted it was before 9/11).  One day he stood behind me, put the wands in my hands, grabbed my wrists, and had me direct the jet in.  Afterwards I was in the underbelly of the plane helping him offload bags and a U.S. Air pilot who saw, walked by and told me I did a great job and that "I could wave his plane in any day."  Pilots love that sorta stuff as long as there's adult supervision

Ah, that's cute.  Having my five year old on my lap, generating financial reports on the computer just doesn't have that wow factor.

Oh no, a kid said what his fully trained father told him to correctly and the pilots obviously knew what was saying was right while the child's father was supervising him in case the kid messed up.

I'm surprised no one was killed.

Oh, shit. Now that I think about it, there's a good chance I met the guy. I went up to the tower for a tour (and was talking with all the guys about how I'm taking lessons now) for a couple of hours back in September.

It's actually quite a relaxed place, surprisingly. Maybe I just caught them on an easy day. With Runway 13-31 shut down for maintenence, I doubt it'll stay that way.
