Why Karkand is better than Mashtuur

In the format of Kark/Mash

Loads of points to be earned/Nothing special

Great environments on medium graphics/Not as striking

Great oppurtunites for teamwork/spawning in a blackhawk to get shot down

CQC/Snipe and PKM combat

No long distances to hike/Miles to get to the gas stations by foot

4 spawnpoints at each flag/4 spawnpoints at each flag

Plenty of opportunity for flank attacks (ie taking side roads to Suburbs)

Great for earning badges to own your friends with/Not much of an opportunity here

Tight streets allow Spec Ops to easily destroy tanks/Open space is rubbish for trying to sneak up on tanks

Easy to locate snipers/Not a chance

Each class can achieve full potential/Anti Tank or Sniper

Now don't get me wrong, I like Mashtuur, I just like Karkand better and am determined to disprove joy

Now let the real discussions begin

I like both maps but I like Karkand better, particularly being on US. That takes a huge amount of teamwork to capture all the flags. Karkand is by far the most popular BF2 map.

From a sniper's point of view I think Mashtuur is way better,there's too much fog,nadespamming and apcwhoring on Karkand for my taste,on Mashtuur I am able to easily pull off 22/0 rounds,Karkand I only use for claymorewhoring to get that friggin' expert explosive badge some day.

I've had very little luck with Karkand for explosives. Try Warlord if you've got SF. When each side has one of the palace flags, you'll be in clay heaven. I've just missed expert by a few kills a few times.

I think the best arguement for Karkand being better is the less distance to walk. I'm not a big fan of having to travel on foot take forever on a city map.

Mashtuur's okay. Certainly better than the pre-1.2 days. I wouldn't even play the map after a while. I'd rather play Karkand any day over Mashtuur. I'll at least play it now but it's pretty low on my list of maps.

Karkadan = Armor Whoring. If you are not in armor on Karkadan you are just flipping a coin whether the first guy you meet will kill you or not.

Some days, I love Karkand. Most days I hate Karkand. Unfortunately, whenever I try to join a sever, ones playing Karkand tend to have the lowest ping. It's always been this way for me and I'm not 100% sure why - perhaps Karkand is less graphically demanding or something. Anyway...

I hate Mashtuur slightly more. Can't seem to move on that map without having the back of my head blown off by a sniper. There should be more alleyways allowing for stealthier movement through the city...

But I have had some good rounds on Mashtuur.

i've personally found the open space on the Chinese maps to be more team-work oriented as opposed to the "SUPRISE!" kinda styles on Karkand and others.... But when it comes down to Karkand or Mashtuur? I'd pick Mashtuur solely for the reason I have more space to breathe. And I do a hell of a lot better at medium ranges as opposed to close...

The only problem with Mashtuur is you need a Vodnik or a Humvee to get around at a decent pace otherwise your stuck hanging around the backyard and mosque region duking it out.

Same goes for me. I spaz out when someone's up close, I can't keep the crosshair on them. But I'm good at 20-50m in most cases. I'm a fan of Mashtuur most of the time, and I have a love/hate relationship with Karkand (armor/APC whores suck on that map)

Karkand sucks, I used to love it now I can't stand it.

at the beggining, everyone who isn't in armour throws nades, anyone who isnt throwing nades or in armour are trying to revive the fallen nade victims, only to be blown up by a nade themselves.

Amours battle it out or spawn rape, USMC try to take the Hotel flag - They will only do this is MEC team sucks.

Some try and go round the back, taking the back flags. This will only happen if the MEC team sucks.

Mashtuur is more fun, more open and can really make for some great battles when there is only 1 flag left.

The only good time on karkand is when USMC capture every base except the ones over the bridge and then theres a big fight on the bridge but that leads to a hundered snipers and a hundered anti tanks.

Mashtuur is my favourite city map by far
