I've got fed up with re-installing ultramon everytime my trial period ends and re-installing it.
I can't find a decent alternative that works/is free.
The other way to get programs just turns up either porn or trojans... Or both

Has anyone got a decent alternative or earlier version of ultramon that they know is free?
It's a pretty popular program and lots of people must have the combination of 2 monitors and vista.

I acquired DisplayFusion, it's pretty much the same thing as UltraMon but has better handling for the taskbar in windows 7, and the Multi-monitore wallpaper interface is nicer.

All it does is shows a single nag prompt that your registration is invalid, on every login.

Just firewall it.

I don't run a software firewall because my network's so fucked up it's impossible to actually directly connect to my computer. (Neighbor's internet - their router - to my very misconfigured, but somehow working DD-WRT router - my computer)

I can't run Windows firewall because it kills the whole network, and I'm too much of a RAM slob to run something else >.<

I might try to find out where it tries to connect, and just add a HOSTS definition for it.

Got it, just having a problem with getting the wallpaper bit to work at the mo.
Program shows my monitors in the right place at the right sizes but when i apply a wallpaper it appears in random places with random white gaps.

tried that.
17" is directly left of my 22"

the wallpaper for the 17" shows up in the bottom right of the 22"
the wallpaper for the 22" shows up on the far right of the 22" and the far left of the 17".
If i swap the arrangement for where they are meant to be physically from left to right it works perfectly thoug, depite having to go right to get to the left monitor.
tis confudling me.

I used to use Ultramon. Switched to DisplayFusion with Windows 7. I quite like it. But I cant really remember Ultramon so my opinion is pretty useless.

Thats what I did too. I also liked the fact that you could put a button next to your Minimize, Maximize, and Close button on the titlebar or w/e you call that will send the window to the other monitor. I don't use that anymore, I use a hotkey to move windows to the other monitor which is pretty nice.
