Has any one have problems playing games from their SATA DVD drive or know any one else who does?

I have an OEM Samsung SATA DVD drive, for some games it runs fine, but a few other games it crashes to DESKTOP.

All of my games run fine running from the IDE DVD drive, so I know it is not the CD/DVD.
I have tried the SATA DVD drive in two motherboads and flashed the firmware, but same crappy results.

So question is, does any one else have the same problem with their SATA DVD drive?

Are you running Windows XP?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

shouldnt be too pricey to acquire a new dvd drive.  see if you can borrow one to confirm it's the problem, and then replace it.

I would guess it's a problem with the DVD drive itself.

When I originally bought it and noticed the problem, I did exchange it for another one (same model).
I kept it because it can burn DVD DL with no problems and has the WriteMaster feature.

The drive could of been an incompatibility issue but now have it on a new computer and new OS.

Steelie - Yah I am using another player for my games. I wonder if any one else is using a SATA DVD player in their computers and if so, do they have problems with it.

It could still be a problem with the DVD player... Is there any way you could try a different SATA DVD player? Maybe that brand has issues...
