In the middle of playing MW2, I get a disconnect from lobby, followed by a message 'You must be signed in to steam online to play'. Since I was just playing online and hadn't done anything I'm surprised. i exit the game and try to restart MW2 multiplayer. Then I get the message:

Steam was unable to sync your files for Call of Duty MW2 with the Steam Cloud
If you have played this game from another computer [i haven't] your gamne settings and/or prgoress may not be in sync with what is stored in the cloud. If you pkay the game now, you may lose those changes or progress"

Then I can play game or cancel, but if I play game then I get the same must be online on steam to play - which I fuckin am, dammit.

Same thing with single player too.

Anyone got any ideas? Yes, it is a legit copy of the game.

sometimes IWnet will go down. Nothing you can do but wait.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
