hey there dude, i had a 9700 ati agp, i could run bf2 on high, yes indeedy! the 9600 is not far off the 9700 although the 9700 was slightly more powerful. i would say that you could play bf2 on the full medium specs at 1080xwhatever. the 9700 has a slight edge. to really determine your performance, we need to know the rest of your pc's specs...i.e. the ram and processor.

hope im able to help...

used to play with 9600XT (256mb)

max settings was: med for textures and geometry, shadows @low; everything else to lowest/off

(system: 2700+, 1024 ram)

it was playable but sometimes laggy in the wrong situation. now im running a 9700 PRO and have set all to lowst/off eept shadows wich are at low (instead of off).

at all times i would set shadows at lowest cuz otherwise its much harder to spot an enemy (gives u the half of a second u need to be the first one shooting   )

most ppl of my clan are runnig lowest settings (with much better grafic cards) ur shiny new medal ist goint to look that great on the screenshot anymore   but it will improve ur kd

cheers

Alright, thanks.

My specs are:

9600 (256mb)
1.5gig ram
3.0 ghz
pent 4
500k-1.5mb connection

And you were saying bert, ive put some settings on med before and the alleys in kark were hard to see in, what setting is this so I can keep it to whatever its on and pump the rest up?

im not quite shure about the effect of the lighning settings... but set shadows to "low" if u want to make shure u can see the enemy BEFORE ur getting shot at another good thing is that with that settings u can see the shadows of troops throught walls. so if so is above u in a building u will now that he's there without uav.
i guess u will have to try out what the best settings are for the rest.. if u want to get the best score i would set everything to lowest (exept shadows of course). if ur not into stats that much and want to have the best grafiks u should try it out.
just adjust 1 category at the same time, join a server an figuere out if it works out fine. shure it takes some time but it is worth it

I have a machine with an ATI 9550 re biosed to a 9600 and it runs with all settings on Medium except Dynamic Shadows LOW, and Dynamic Lighting LOW. Apart from that it runs fine. It should be noted that you may still get a bit of lag for the first few seconds of the game as it loads the textures etc into memory.

I have a ATI 9600 pro./ 1gb memory. I play between low and medium. Medium only = lag. so i hang between medium and low. but i hate that card. It always heat up fast. When that happens i get weird graphics :S

I'm running a Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro, which is slightly slower than the desktop version.  I run with everything except geometry low.  I tested out having everything at medium and high settings but explosions killed my FPS completely.

You can probably run on medium but expect frequent frame drops. I reccomend keeping it on low for smooth experience.
