Whenever I play BF2 recently (within the last week) it completely freezes anywhere between 5mins - an hour, screen freezes and I get a buzzing sound from speakers like the sounds stuck in a loop, I can't ctrl alt delete or anythign it's a complete freeze so I have to turn it off then on by the power, been googling it for a couple days now and see this thread http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/150/380660.page seems like everyones getting it on Bad Company 2, anyone else getting this on BC2 or BF2?
I'm wondering if it's a PB issue as everyones got different systems seems like too much of a coincidence to me

Is your power supply strong enough to keep your computer cool?  This might be caused by over heating.

Take off the side panel of the PC and try playing without it.

Had the same problem and taking the side panel off worked for me. I guess the five fans just can't keep it cool .. Go figure. Hope this helps, if not let me know i'll look into it further and I'm sure other people are now

So. The five fans In your pc case, which is specifically designed to optimise cooling, work better when the side of your case is off?

Yep.  I have the Antec 900. (Two fans in front, one on top, one on back and I bought one for the side)  I should have invested in a better one.  If I take off the side I have no crashes or freezing.  Ofcourse I make sure all other programs I'm not using are shut down.

Nothing to do with cooling, side of case off in theory makes cooling worse, doesn't reduce temps anyway it's placebo.
I've tried resetting to fail safe defaults in BIOS it don't help.
Loads of people on Bad Company 2 are having this exact issue, and the fix apparently is to disable onboard sound and plug in a seperate sound card, but the freezings only been happening this week so maybe it's something to do with PunkBuster and a glitch with onboard sound or something?
All the people with this problem have completely different setups so it's not a heat/hardware issue, plus it's all been happening at the same time.
PB is the only thing I can think of that's related to BF2 and BC2.
I've been using onboard sound and had no problems with BF2 for about 2 months until about a week ago.
Happens on XP 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit
I can't even make it through quarter of a game it completely locks up every time. I tried disabling onboard sound and it didn't freeze for about the 25 mins I played, but 1- I can't play with no sound and 2- I don't see why I should have to buy another sound card when I've only recently bought my PC and had no problems since last week with BF2.
Everything else works completely fine it's annoying

It was a Windows 7 issue, it happened once on XP but never happened again.
Happened every single game on Windows 7 (64-bit) without fail within half hour max, was mostly about 10 mins
Pretty much everyone on that forum I linked to was using Windows 7 64-bit
