i7 build help :)

Linking back to this, I've changed my mind and thought 'fuck it, lets go for i7'. So I scoped eBuyer and came up with this. (for the time being)

What I'm lookin at now is:

Crucial 6gb (3x2gb) 1600Mhz Ram
Intel Core i7 920 D0

I need some advice on a motherboard. My budget for the motherboard is £80-£120.

My specs right now are:

Cheiftech Dragon
Asustek Crosshair
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+
3gb DDR2
Ati Radeon 4670
Enermax 565W
Maxtor 500gb
W7 Ultimate

I'll be keeping the case, 4670, HDD.

Will my PSU be enough for that? I'll be looking to get a 5870 within a few months of putting my build together.

Any input would be ace

yeah you need an lga1366. don't skimp on the mobo either, its not worth it.

Why not go i5/PII 955?

A £500 budget would better suit them than an i7. I got my brother a good i5 setup with 2xUSB 3.0 and2x6GBS aswell. A bit of future proofing too it as well.

Do you use HT atall? If you're worried about lifetime of the socket the 1156 should be around for a few more years to come.

P.s: Does it have to be an x58 i7, the P55 i7 is great too!

may not be for 920 though, think its only 860 and i5 750.

good for the i5 though and fits your budget i think...

If you want LGA 1156 i7, then yes. But 920's are LGA1336, which is much much better.
