Been searching around and have tried some basic .vob to .avi converters but they make the video look like complete shit. I've got a .vob file from a DVD I ripped and I'd like to edit with Adobe Premiere, which can't handle .vob files.

Any of you know any good programs that will convert the .vob file with minimal loss in quality? Or even ways to get Premiere to let me import and play around with a .vob file?

Thanks!

Change the .vob extension to .mpg

Still wouldn't let me import, said the file format was incompatible. Fucking annoying. It won't even let me import .mp3 sound files, but I remember it letting me do that before.

Here's a pretty well written guide for it

Worked great.

For future reference / note to self: HandBrake exported in .m4v. I then had to rename the extension to .avi for Premiere to recognize it.

Hmm, maybe I should post the video here when I'm done... or in JD Chats. Just a little YTMND-esque fusion thing

Can Adobe Premiere handle x264?  x264 within a matroska container will result in much better quality than (what you likely used) xvid/avi.

I have no idea, honestly. Been a while since I used Premiere
Although, I did rip the DVD with no loss in quality, and the .mkv [or .m4v? I forget] (which was later renamed to .avi for compatibility-sake) didn't seem to have any noticeable loss in quality either.
