needless to say I've been bugging the forum with my constant questions about gaming laptops for some time now. I now have enough cash to buy my gaming laptop and wanted to see if you guys can find information on it that i may have missed. I thought of going for the ati mobility HD 5870 rather than the nivida 285m but would like to hear your views. thanks guys

Oh my how tempting those SSD's must be... I would save up another $130 if possible, make the jump man! Do it!

80GB SSD and just use an extrernal drive for storage.

For all inteansive purposes, an SSD would be almost twice as fast at everything, booting, loading, rendering, etc. You're going to kick yourself for not doing it.

Where are Panzer and Max to back me up here?

It's gonna be a gaming lappy, so, a few games, OS, browser...will all fit onto it fine. Music/vids? External HDD.

SSD gives you benefits you can immediately see. There are not many things that give you that big difference even in desktop use. Imo the biggest single thing about overall PC technology improvement since multi core CPU.
