without actually buying anything, is there any program/whatever i can use to do this;

headset only picks up from ventrilo, everything else (music/games) come through my main speakers.

headset is some cheapo logitech USB thing.

There is, you need to configure the output settings in Ventrillo to output through your USB audio.

My friend does the exact thing, except we use Teamspeak.

Set your speakers (probably named 'Speakers - Realtek HD Audio' or something along those lines) as the default playback device through the sound settings on the control panel.

Then go to the sound input/output settings in Ventrilo and choose your headset as the playback device.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
