I'd give it an "A" though.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
I cant connect with this one on the same level as BoB. When that guy died I had no idea he was a significant character. Plus, since they wanted realistic battles at nighttime, I cant see a thing thats going on during their fights.
Not that complicated
Japanese rushing a fence
The USMC cutting em down with .30 cals.

What about all that stuff going on in the back bushes, people were killing each other and I had no idea who was who.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Classified as a rifle Sharpshooter Oct 22, 1942. Served in the Central Pacific Area from April 26, 1943, to May 15, 1945. Participated in initial occupation of Majuro Atoll, Marshall Islands. Discharged Oct. 19, 1945.
I gotta be honest, I'm enjoying the show so far for the simple fact that I haven't read much on the Pacific theater. Sure, I can describe the Battle of Leyte Gulf or the Coral Sea or Midway Island but I never really put much effort into learning about the ground war in the Pacific. I've read everything about the war in the European theater inside and out but I always just assumed the Pacific was a series of boring battles of attrition. My assumption appears to be correct so I'm glad I get to watch it instead of read about it

But yeah, that one guy (who nobody knows because of no fu**ing intro) said a few guys broke through.

Pretty hard to make out helmets/faces/uniforms when they're moving quickly, in the dark, quick camera angle switches and wrestling with each other.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Nope, first episode is avaliable to all comcast customers, but from 2nd to the last episode will only be for comcast customers w/ HBO subscription, but there will be all Pacific Eps in HQ streaming sites, or DivX you just have to find the sites, i'm still looking for them lol.ATG wrote:

Banzai charge. It worked wonders in China, but we had superior weapons to the Chinese.-Sh1fty- wrote:

I'd have to say it would be rather awkward to engage someone at a close range with a bolt-action rifle. Bayonet was seen as the more effective weapon for close-quarters...-Sh1fty- wrote:

It probably had a lot to do with the Japanese and Chinese not having WWI trench warfare experience. The Euros and Americans learned not to make frontal assaults on machine guns. Japanese officers, being entirely 'by the book', still followed old doctrine even though it was ineffective. The average Japanese line officer was not given any leeway in deviation from prescribed doctrine. Obedience to superiors is what defined them.

Using a firearm at close range for a Japanese is dishonorable, a real man fights up close and personal with his blade. They had a whole "civil war" over military modernization.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Yeah so they didn't modify their doctrine to incorporate MGs and tactics to take out MGs, cause they werent involved in trench warfare. Pretty sure that their doctrine was written in the early 1900s.JohnG@lt wrote:
