What is very handy about it is having the 50 cal to bail you out of a tight spot! Good stuff Nyte!
hehe. prolly wouldnt work against me. i always have a habit of shooting smoking cars down so they can respawn and be put to better use with full health again. 1 free kill whilst doing this would be nice

Well i gotta say if you ever read my crappy snipers guide that i said to do that in a boat or jeep, i do it all the time
It's best if you put the HUMVEE in an enemy base rather than perch it on a cliff.
I did it last night on Karkand for 27-3. I put the HUMVEE in the left road (left of hotel) and was sniping through the windshield towards all the MEC guys that were running up towards the USMC hill.
The T-90 tank rolled past me like 10 times without even seeing me (And he came from behind too which would have been easier to sight me).
I managed to die the first time because a MEC guy hopped in the HUMVEE and like 2 guys spawned on him. I was literally sandwiched between the gunner and the 3rd seat MEC. I layed a grenade on the back of the HUMVEE and I hopped out, all 3 of the MEC guys died (I never knew grenades will go with vehicles if they lay on them). That's going into my 3rd video.

Alpha as fuck.
It's also kinda fun sniping from underneath vodniks, as well. However as several have noted, I've often fallen victim to the observant commander, or the destructive armor driver, that needs to blow everything up.
Anyways, teasing aside...
On to....
Just goes to show you that this good idea was more common than I realized, but yet remained largely unknown to many. Very interesting...
I could be wrong, given that I haven't done it in quite some time.

Other than that flawless idea.
(p.s dont forget UAV and comm scan).
Honestly. As a sniper, you're gonna get hit with the UAV or manual commander spotting one way or another. At least with the vehicle adding some cover and concealment, it gives you something more than if you'd chosen to snipe in that same vicinity without the vehicle.Mj.Blindfisch wrote:
Not even troops,if the commander is smart it probably ends with the next available artillery strike.
In BF1942 such things were possible, there was no UAV or commander around,in BF2 it really depends on how dumb/busy the enemy commander is,on some servers the commanders seem always to be on search&destroy missions against snipers, with the sat-scan,mapzoom and artillery you are pretty much f.-ed in the A.
Yeah, I remember reading this about a week or two ago as well. Still doesn't change the fact that I've used this technique before that though...ComradeWho wrote:

It may have very well been in your guide that I read it recently. However, I originally remember using similiar techniques in DC:Bf1942, and killed an enemy sniper using this just about the time when the game originally came out (if anything will get you killed, it's that shot report).pure_beef_69 wrote:

If I remember this right, doesn't that wind up tearing up the humvee in the process? I could've sworn it did...Nyte wrote:

Interesting idea. I like it a lot.
I have sniped from under vodniks before, and just end up getting run over a lot. Maybe this is something to try to get over the hump of being a crappy sniper.

Im gonna be putting sraws in every empty humvee i see now.
I've done this for ages...

another one i use quite often is hiding in vehicles and sometimes under
other than karkand or mashtuur city, very rarely use any vehicle
all though lately ive been whoring tanks to get 100 hours to get a badge
so anyways, dont ever sit in a vehicle when capturing a flag. it does nothing but draw unwanted attention to your self. get out and get as far away from the flag as possible
hmmvws i love, cause not only can you hide underneath them but also you can get inside of them with out actually being in the vehicle
this is great because the majority of people will only look at it long enough to see if there is a name above it
drive the hmmvw up to the flag and hop out, run around to the back of it and hop in the back (dont hit the enter vehicle button) and go prone
and ta-da, you have instant camo
many times if someone comes along and sees the flag going down, theyll hop right in the the turrent of the hum-v, very easy knife kill
or sometimes they wont even look at the flag and hop in and leave, this easy very easy kill as well, all you have to do is turn around and theres the driver's head sticking up from the seat
hiding in the back of a hmmwv
view of the front of the hmmwv from inside
hiding underneath
Ive done that around 3 or 4 times IAR once, it was funny as hell...They were so confused.Nyte wrote:

Some guy mentioned this technique in another post ages ago.
So for me this isn't interesting.
Nyte, you and your big head can suck my big dick.

yeah i have done that before, well i use it a fair deal to be honest. nice post btw

Jesus gives even to the jews.
Alpha as fuck.
ive found a similiar method to this, involving proning and Vodniks...although your idea is a bit easier I think, as you get a bit more elevation than under a vodnik. I use Vodniks in conjunction with a PKM on KarkandNyte wrote:
For all the passive snipers out there, I was mulling around on Operation Clean Sweep the other day and I inadvertently discovered (Not sure if I'm the first but I haven't seen anyone do this) a way to stay almost completely hidden.
It requires a HUMVEE transport vehicle and some good environmental knowledge. Either use or steal a HUMVEE and park it in an area where no one really cares about it.
Get out of th HUMVEE and jump into the back of it, prone and snipe from there (IE. Don't ENTER the vehicle, but prone inside the vehicle).
To make it look better, you can grenade the vehicle once to get it smoking so people don't approach it. Or you can just lay a claymore underneath the HUMVEE so if someone comes close they are toast.
Funny story, in fact, someone got into the HUMVEE and was driving around (I didn't die for some reason). He drove me all around the map until I took out a knife and killed him while he was driving (He didn't see that coming!).
Critique please.

Oh, I ended up 34-2 if that is of any constellation (No aggressive play though so deaths are obviously less).
i do a variant of this with hiding under the vehicle and then parking it somewhere in a high traffic region. granted i can't hit them in the head if they're close but i just press "e" and jump into the .50 cal to deal with lots of troops climb out and move around.
mainly i do this at the oil cisterns on daqing oilfields and just park the NJ 2046 in between the modular buildings there and then park the FAV facing the front of one of the entrances. after i make a few kills i just move to the other vehicle get under it, they run in lay down heavy fire and move to the other vehicle. best part is when the chopper flies overhead and doesn't notice me. then i just blast it with the .50 cal they notice me but when you park the vehicle in between the buildings it just fits so you end up behind the vehicle behind the modulars and you can just run around and hide again.

I've been run over to, but that's why you can put claymores up. Also, unless they're turning from the get-go, they usually just roll over you with little, to no, damage. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of hiding around, or near vehicles. Too much foot traffic in those areas (let alone tank rounds flying by).Burning_Monkey wrote:

Out of curiousity, what constitutes a "good sniper" vs. a "crappy sniper", IYO? Using this technique is just another tool in the toolbox to used when applicable. Obviously, relying upon it as your only tool would be a bad idea, IMO...
Humm pretty nice trick ill try it asap...not sur it will work on karkand tho...

I can see this working on a big map, but do it on karkand and you're toast.
Not a bad tactic.
Laidbackninja, you're a rather mediocre ninja. Work on that damn sneaking!
