It is going to take atleast a respin, over even a die shrink before fermi becomes a contender for me. It doesnt justify the wait nor price over a 5870 when it comes to price and performance. And if I really thought to myself, well, I will pay the extra over a 5870 for it, why not go a bit further and get a 5970? Atleast for gaming.
GTX 470's scores where reasonable though considering price point, atleast it is an alternative to the ATi cards. I dont really see the 480 being useful to anyone less you are after Nvidia specific technologies and I certainly am not.

yeah but you could easily overclock the 5870 at the same fan speed and get 10% increase with the same\ less heat youd burn out the nvidia card if you over clock it more than 5% since its already in the mid 90s.The_Sniper_NM wrote:

Yeah, but those numbers were done on the default fan speed, and we all know those are only designed to use the least amount of power while keeping the card just below thermal thresholds.dill13 wrote:

Yeah but it would get even noisier when you turn the fan speed up the stock fan at stock speeds keeps the 5870 in the mid 70s so you could oc it and keep it within in reasonable temps without touching fan speeds.The_Sniper_NM wrote:

i still waiting for something with the same power/price as the 8800gt once had. but this 8800gt is getting slow tbh
